Embroidery in clothing
Embroidery was also used in clothing; on La Palma, it forms an essential part of the island’s ethnographic heritage, reflecting our history, identity and daily life. Clothing is a form of craftsmanship, rather than a mere adornment.
Floral, plant and geometric motifs predominate; cotton, linen or silk threads are used, in colours ranging from delicate white to bright shades.
The most common items of clothing featuring embroidery, apart from the garments of the traditional costume, are: blouses and shirts (with embellishments on the sleeves and collar); skirts (with embroidered borders); scarves; and more.
